I live in Connemara, County Galway in the West of Ireland and I regularly walk in the area near my home, down narrow country lanes, along the seashore, through woods, over mountains and bogs. I enjoy looking at the plants that grow wild in these habitats and have begun to photograph the wild flowers as they come into season. Many of the wild flowers in Connemara can also be found in other parts of Ireland as well as Britain, but we have a number flowers that have become extremely rare in more developed regions, as well as some Mediterranean and alpine varieties. I have made an effort to identify each flower, and I hope that this site will be a useful resource for people trying to identify Irish wild flowers as well as an enjoyable place to browse. If you have internet access on your phone, you can even use this site as a field guide. I am not a botanist, so I welcome comments and suggestions, especially if I have identified anything incorrectly.

You can browse through the flowers by clicking on a colour in the menu above or selecting a number of petals or habitat on the right (or below, if you are using a mobile phone). Or you can search by typing the name or partial name of a flower in the search box. You can also browse the diary month-by-month.

Please Enjoy!

Brigid.
